Dr Katherine Sowden
Consultant Gynaecologist
MBChB, FRANZCOG
Dr Katherine Sowden is a highly respected professional in her field. She currently leads the gynaecology services for Counties Manukau Health. Katherine has been a Consultant Gynaecologist at Counties Manukau Health since 2004 and was appointed Clinical Lead for Gynaecology in 2014.
She is also currently the departmental lead for non-tertiary gynaecological oncology where she is particularly interested in the management of premalignant gynaecological conditions.

A fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG), Katherine also enjoys the practical teaching of specialist RANZGOG trainees and is involved in oversight of guideline development and implementation as well as clinical audit.

Katherine provides a wide range of general gynaecology services including colposcopy, vulvoscopy, hysteroscopy, laparoscopy (including laparoscopic hysterectomies) and open gynaecological surgery.
DR Lulu Van EEDEN
Consultant Gynaecologist
MBChB, FRANZCOG
Dr Lulu van Eeden is a NZ trained gynaecologist who received her medical degree at Otago University. She was the recipient of the Sir Bernard Dawson Award for being the top medical graduate in obstetrics and gynaecology in the Dunedin Clinical School of Medicine, as well as the Batchelor Memorial Medal and Prize for being the top graduate in obstetrics and gynaecology at Otago University.

Lulu is currently a consultant at Counties Manukau DHB. Her areas of interest are management of abnormal periods, hysteroscopy, laparoscopies (including laparoscopic hysterectomies), colposcopy and gynaecology cancers.

Lulu conducted three years of medical research on the effects of oxytocin (a female hormone) with Dr Anica Klockars (PhD) at Waikato University. Lulu travelled to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists World Congress to present her research findings in 2018.

Lulu speaks fluent Mandarin, and is able to consult in Mandarin if required.
Rosemary
Dr Sowden's Personal Assistant (PA)
Meet Rosemary, a seasoned administrative professional with extensive experience in the Health Industry. Currently serving as Katherine Sowden's dedicated PA, Rosemary thrives in providing top-notch secretarial support to ensure the smooth operation of Katherine's bustling private gynecology practice. Outside of her professional endeavours, Rosemary enjoys immersing herself in the pages of a good book and exploring the aisles of her local library. Embracing the tranquility of outdoor strolls, she particularly savours walks along the beach. Amidst managing a household bustling with three males, Rosemary cherishes moments spent catching up with close friends over coffee or a glass of Pinot Gris.
Sue
Dr van Eeden's Personal Assistant (PA)
Introducing Sue, the friendly and dedicated personal assistant to Dr. van Eeden. With a sharp attention to detail and a knack for organization, Sue plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of the practice. From managing schedules to facilitating communications and coordinating patient care, she executes her duties with efficiency and a welcoming demeanour. Beyond the office walls, Sue channels her passion for baking, delighting friends and family with delectable cakes, cookies, and pastries. At home, she finds joy and laughter in the company of her two adorable pugs, who never fail to bring warmth to her days.

Meet Lisa, the dedicated administrative and technical support for the practice. Combining her professional expertise with a friendly and approachable demeanour, Lisa proves to be an indispensable member of the team. When she's not at work, Lisa embraces her role as a devoted mother to a lively toddler, cherishing every precious moment they share together.
