Dr Katherine Sowden
Consultant Gynaecologist
MBChB, FRANZCOG
Dr Katherine Sowden is a highly respected professional in her field. She currently leads the gynaecology services for Counties Manukau Health. Katherine has been a Consultant Gynaecologist at Counties Manukau Health since 2004 and was appointed Clinical Lead for Gynaecology in 2014.
She is also currently the departmental lead for non-tertiary gynaecological oncology where she is particularly interested in the management of premalignant gynaecological conditions.
A fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG), Katherine also enjoys the practical teaching of specialist RANZGOG trainees and is involved in oversight of guideline development and implementation as well as clinical audit.
Katherine provides a wide range of general gynaecology services including colposcopy, vulvoscopy, hysteroscopy, laparoscopy (including laparoscopic hysterectomies) and open gynaecological surgery.
DR Lulu Van EEDEN
Consultant Gynaecologist
MBChB, FRANZCOG
Dr Lulu van Eeden is a NZ trained gynaecologist who received her medical degree at Otago University in 2010. She was the recipient of the Sir Bernard Dawson Award for being the top medical graduate in obstetrics and gynaecology in the Dunedin Clinical School of Medicine, as well as the Batchelor Memorial Medal and Prize for being the top graduate in obstetrics and gynaecology at Otago University in 2010.
Lulu is currently a consultant at Counties Manukau DHB. Her areas of interest are management of abnormal periods, hysteroscopy, laparoscopies (including laparoscopic hysterectomies), colposcopy and gynaecology cancers.
Lulu conducted three years of medical research on the effects of oxytocin (a female hormone) with Dr Anica Klockars (PhD) at Waikato University. Lulu travelled to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists World Congress to present her research findings in 2018.
Lulu speaks fluent Mandarin, and is able to consult in Mandarin if required.
DR Anne elliot
Consultant Anaesthetist
MBChB, FRANZA, PG Cert Clin US
Dr Anne Elliot is an consultant anaesthetist at Counties Manukau DHB and a member of Anaesthesia Auckland. She is a valuable asset to our private practice team at Ormiston Specialist Centre.
Anne's interests are wide-ranging, and include anaesthesia for gynaecology, orthopaedics, regional anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine. Outside of professional practice, Anne enjoys quality time with family and friends, and when not at home, can usually be found on the water!
DR Jane Denman
Consultant Anaesthetist
MBBS, MRCP, FRCA, FANZCA
Jane is a consultant anaesthetist at Counties Manukau and a member of Epsom Anaesthesia.
Jane completed her medical training and anaesthetic training in London, UK before moving here to New Zealand with her family. She is a fellow of both the UK Royal College of Anaesthetics and the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetics. She has a special interest in Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Ear, Nose and Throat anaesthesia and research.
When not at work, Jane spends much of her time trying to keep up with her young family and crazy dog. When she gets time she enjoys a bit of fishing.
Olive Lai
Registered Nurse

Dedicated and passionate, Olive Lai has been nursing since 2015, largely working in the women's health sector, as well as a variety of specialties across inpatient surgical and medical services.
Olive is driven to improve the quality of services in patient care. With a background in health service management studies, her interests lie in the usage of health technology to improve patient experience. Olive is also a violinist, music teacher and an event coordinator in her spare time.
